Henle Schubert Complete Dances Volume I Piano Urtext
Introduction
Henle’s Schubert Complete Dances Volume I is a substantial Urtext collection for piano solo, bringing together an extraordinary range of Schubert’s early dances in one volume. The edition captures the lively spirit of the Schubertiade and includes minuets, waltzes, ländler, écossaises, and German dances, offering pianists a rich survey of Schubert’s gift for melody and character in shorter forms. Henle notes that this first volume contains 182 dances, with the latest works in the volume dating from 1816, when Schubert was just 19 years old.
